Can sanctions affect small businesses unexpectedly?

Hello forum members. I run a small business and recently started working with partners abroad. A friend warned me that even small companies can accidentally fall under sanctions regulations, which honestly made me nervous. I always thought sanctions were mainly a concern for large corporations or governments. Now I’m questioning whether I should be doing more checks or getting legal advice before moving forward. Has anyone here experienced sanctions-related issues as a small business owner?

This concern is more common than people think. I own a small company as well and assumed sanctions wouldn’t apply to me until I nearly ran into a problem with an overseas transaction. The rules don’t always make a distinction between large and small businesses. While trying to understand my responsibilities, I found  https://sanctionslawyers.net/  useful for explaining how sanctions can affect everyday business activities. It made me more aware of risks I hadn’t even considered before and helped me take more informed precautions.
