About the Event

DharmaDen presents their TunedUp featured artists for April: Samer Bakri, Jasmine Bailey, and Doah’s Daydream.

Jasmine Bailey:

Jasmine Bailey is a creative force that specializes in singing, guitar, writing, and visual art. She offers her art as a space to relax, to feel tender, and to feel spaciousness in the midst of a chaotic world. Sonically, her music is characterized by smooth lead vocals, entrancing lyricism, dreamy guitar and sparse R&B-inspired rhythms. She often explores themes of love, grief, ancestry/tradition, dreams, mysticism, human rights and nature. In addition to her rooted presence on stage, she loves to incorporate custom projections, animations and multimedia installations into her performances to enhance the senses and engage with those who share the space. Jasmine has toured extensively as a soloist throughout the West Coast, including several independent West Coast tours, a national tour and residencies in Miami, FL. In 2019, she was nominated Best Singer Songwriter in the Sacramento News & Review SAMMIES awards. In 2020, she became an artist with The Recording Academy, mentored by Grammy-winning producer Brian Gibbs in the GRAMMYU program. In 2020, she directed her first music video for The Voice finalist, Jaclyn Lovey, "My Extraterrestrial."  In 2021, she signed with a production label, CREW, and released her first Single, Cherry Pie, which has reached international audiences in the UK, Brazil, Mexico and Nigeria.

Samer Bakri:

Minneapolis Minnesotan-turned San Diego native Samer Bakri is a singer-songwriter, producer, and mix engineer who has a keen sensibility for creating catchy tunes and captivating love songs. Inspired by stories told by profound singer-songwriters such as Damien Rice, Frank Ocean, and Norah Jones, Samer was compelled to dive into the depths of paving a path in the road to sharing his voice through word and song at 16 years old. Getting his start at a prominent local music venue ‘Lestat’s West’, he was able to shape his sound and find his style by trying new material out in front of his fellow musicians. With his first EP “Memories of Her” that debuted in 2018, Samer was able to officially share his recorded music with avid attendees of his live concerts. On top of writing his own music, Samer produces, cowrites, and mixes other artists from all over the world. Samer’s music connects with his audience and has given him the opportunity to perform at a vast array of prominent venues and events; including a 2-year residency at The Comedy Store in San Diego, opening for various well-known touring comedians, the San Diego County Fair, The Che Cafe, Adams Ave Street Fair, Art on Adams, as well as mixing shows at House of Blues San Diego and the Viejas Arena, just to name a few. Samer’s eclectic musical interest inspires him to continuously create and compose modernistic music out of his bedroom studio. This inspired his upcoming EP entitled “Sunflowers and Cigarettes”, a collection of songs reflecting his time going to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Doah's Daydream:

Doah’s daydream is a high energy, power house, rock pop reggae, female fronted band from ocean beach. They put on a passionate rocking show and recently played at the St paddy Obeach party opening up for DENM.  They played at the world’s largest women’s surf competition in 2021 where they opened up for Disney pop star, Sophia Carson. They opened up for big Jamaican reggae artist Prezident Brown and Hawaiian reggae artist, MAOLI.   They are going on their first US tour starting April of 2022. They will be releasing their first album later of 2022. If Doah’s daydream is not on your radar yet, this is band you don’t want to miss.
