Meiosis revision thread – share your best tips!
Let’s make a thread to revise meiosis together. I always forget the order of phases and what happens in each. What is your best trick or mnemonic to remember the phases of meiosis I and II? Share please!

Here is a very clear guide to all the phases of meiosis. My tip: remember “PMAT” twice, but with differences. First division (Meiosis I) — Prophase I (crossing over happens here!), Metaphase I (pairs line up), Anaphase I (homologous chromosomes separate), Telophase I. Second division (Meiosis II) — basically PMAT again but no crossing over and single chromosomes line up in Metaphase II, sister chromatids separate in Anaphase II. Another trick: Meiosis I reduces chromosome number (2n → n), Meiosis II reduces chromatid number (2c → 1c). That helps me keep it straight.
